Environmental & Regulatory
Alexander Ricks PLLC's Environmental & Regulatory practice helps clients find practical, cost-effective solutions to environmental and regulatory problems. Our Environmental & Regulatory attorneys are known for their candid, timely, and business-focused advice. We strive to find ways to address environmental and regulatory issues within the constraints of a transaction or business operation and provide clients with the advice and tools they need to understand, manage, and reduce environmental risk.
Our attorneys routinely handle a wide variety of environmental and regulatory matters, including environmental remediation, vapor intrusion and mitigation, enforcement defense, chemical regulation and reporting, solid and hazardous waste, environmental permitting, environmental insurance, aboveground and underground storage tanks, and brownfields redevelopment. We are experienced in local, state, and federal environmental laws such as the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA or Superfund), the Clean Water Act (CWA), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), and similar state and local environmental laws, and we work regularly with the United States Environmental Protection Agency, various state regulatory agencies (including the NC Department of Environmental Quality, or DEQ, and the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control, or DHEC), and local authorities on environmental and regulatory matters.
Our Environmental & Regulatory attorneys are market leaders in the area of Brownfields redevelopment and have worked on some of the largest and most complex Brownfields projects in the state. We also have significant experience advising clients in other state and federal environmental and regulatory programs, including underground storage tank programs, dry-cleaning programs (such as the NC Dry-Cleaning Solvent Act Cleanup Act or DSCA), and voluntary cleanup/remediation programs (including the NC Inactive Hazardous Sites Program).
